We're coming home!

Day 6

Today after driving over 80 miles, we arrived at Mammoth Caves. The cave was cold at around 54 degrees even though it was in the 80's today. After a 2 hour hike through the cave we did some shopping at Trader Joes. We had our last meal at Feast BBQ.

Day 5
We did well! Team Z won the STEM Award for their robotic honu! Out of 366 teams, Team A won 2nd place in the world! After all of those awards, we found out that we had also won the highest award, the Excellence Award! This award is given to the best robotics program, and this year it is Manoa School's!

Day 4
Today was the first full day of competition. All teams worked really hard and did their best. At the end of the day, all 3 teams are near the top of their divisions. Team A is in 12th place out of 80, team Y is in 15th place out of 80 and team Z is 14th. All of the teams were interviewed by the judges and team Y and Z presented their STEM projects to be judge. In robot skills, Team A is currently 4th out 369 teams!

Day 3
We started our day with breakfast at Toast on Market. After a relaxing breakfast we got ready at the hotel for the competition. We setup our 3 booths and practiced. It was a busy afternoon!

Day 2
Today we went to Churchill Downs and the Louisville Slugger Museum. At Churchill Downs we saw the race track and stadium that holds the Kentucky Derby. We watched the jockeys ride and practice with their horses. Inside the museum we did a horse racing simulator against each other, and we placed bets on who will win (fake), we explored the exhibits and the displays at the museum, and we watched a short movie about the Kentucky Derby and it's jockeys, trainers, and horses. After Churchill Down we ate lunch at Troll Pub. After lunch we went to the Slugger Museum and got the factory tour and saw and learned how to make multiple types of baseball bats with machines like CNC and the lathe. We all got free tiny baseball bats. In the exhibits we played baseball simulator and went to the batting cage to hit real baseballs. After Slugger Museum we had dinner at Olive Garden.
