What is a Green Tiger?

The Green Tigers Robotics Team is an after-school organization started in 2013. We participate in the Vex IQ Challenge which is presented by the Robotics Education & Competition (REC) Foundation. In this competition, elementary and middle school students from around the world compete in open-ended robotics and research projects. Our goal is to promote teamwork, and perseverance and apply 21st-century skills while having fun. Click the button below to learn about the program and how to become a member of the Green Tigers.

Competition

Robotics competition brings STEM skills to life by tasking teams of students with designing and building a robot to play against other teams in a game-based engineering challenge. STEM concepts are put to the test as students learn lifelong skills in teamwork, leadership, communications, project-based organization, and more. Click on the button below to learn about the real-world skill that students experience.
Driver Skill is you and your teammate controlling your robot while trying to score the most points in 60 seconds.

Programming Skill is having your robot run autonomously or by itself to score as many points in 60 seconds.

An alliance match is your team with another team working together to score as many points as you can in 60 seconds.

Real Life Skills

Competitive robotics provides real-world skills that students rarely experience in class. Students learn how to prioritize their time between the many different requirements of the competition. Students must balance their time between building, testing, driving, programming, and documenting their work while always on a deadline. They must work with different teams from around the state, country, and world at tournaments if they want to succeed. Students are immersed in a growth mindset environment where either win or lose, they evaluate ways to improve upon their robot and performance.
